Asset Assist Programme 2026 Applications Open for South African MSMEs


The Department of Small Business Development has re-opened the Asset Assist Programme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in South Africa. The programme supports businesses that need machinery, equipment, working capital or raw materials. You apply for support up to a maximum of R250 000. Only up to 20 percent of the total amount you request goes toward raw materials or stock. The Department encourages MSMEs that applied before and did not receive support to apply again.

Who qualifies

• South African owned and registered with CIPC
• Sole proprietors with valid documentation
• Tax compliant with SARS

The programme does not accept applications from the following groups.

• Co-operatives
• MSMEs with annual turnover above R1 million
• Businesses previously funded through the same programme

• Raw materials within the 20 percent limit

All quotes must match the assets you request and must be included in your application.

The system requires accurate information and complete documentation. Late or incomplete submissions are declined. The Department processes applications on a first come, first served basis and may close the call early if the budget is fully allocated.

Documents you must prepare

• CIPC registration documents
• Business profile
• Certified IDs and proof of residence for all owners
• Tax compliance confirmation from SARS
• Business address confirmation
• Twelve month financial projections
• Financial statements or management accounts for existing businesses
• Proof of a valid business bank account and the latest one month bank statement
• Bank confirmation letter for start-ups
• Work permits or permanent residency documents for any non-citizen employees
• Indicative quotations for the assets and services requested

Only applicants who meet all requirements and upload the correct documents are considered for evaluation.

Verification and assessment

The Department may conduct site visits to verify the existence and operations of the business. You should ensure your business address, operations and documents match the information you submit online.
