Zimbabwe 2026 Form 1 Boarding School Applications Now Open on eMAP Portal

Zimbabwe 2026 Form 1 Boarding School Applications Now Open on eMAP Portal

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has opened the Electronic Ministry Application Platform (eMAP) for the 2026 Form 1 boarding school intake. This announcement is important for parents and guardians whose children will be moving from primary to secondary education in 2026. The online system is accessible from 5 November until 31 December 2025, giving families nearly two months to complete the process.

The eMAP system was introduced to make the school selection process transparent and efficient. It allows parents and guardians to apply for Form 1 boarding places in registered schools across Zimbabwe without visiting institutions physically. Each applicant can choose up to five schools. The Ministry has made it clear that the list of schools is not ranked, and all five choices carry equal consideration. Applicants are encouraged to select schools they are genuinely interested in, as each option holds the same chance of offering a place.

Once a school offers a place, the parent or guardian will receive an SMS notification. When one school accepts the child, all other pending applications are automatically cancelled. This means a child can hold only one boarding school offer at a time. Parents should therefore pay close attention to SMS updates from the platform and respond appropriately within the required time.

The Ministry has issued a strong warning about declining offers. If a parent or guardian declines an offer, that slot will immediately be given to another applicant. The decision to decline is final, and once made, the place cannot be reclaimed. This rule ensures fairness and efficient allocation of limited boarding spaces. Parents are advised to consider every offer carefully before making a decision. Since boarding school places are limited, rejecting an offer may lead to the child not securing any boarding placement at all.

The government has assured parents that there are enough Form 1 day-school places for every learner. Families should therefore plan alternative day-school options in case their child does not get a boarding offer. The Ministry will not take responsibility for missed placements resulting from declined offers or incomplete applications.

How to Apply

Parents and guardians can apply online through the official eMAP portal . The application window runs from 5 November to 31 December 2025. Applicants must provide accurate details and ensure that all required information is submitted correctly before the deadline.

To improve the chances of successful placement, parents should apply early and select schools that align with their child’s academic ability and location preferences. The Ministry encourages applicants to complete the process well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical challenges.

This announcement marks the beginning of the 2026 secondary school placement season. All parents and guardians are urged to follow the guidelines, make informed school choices, and ensure timely submission of applications on the eMAP platform.
