The Media Council of Kenya is accepting applications for the January to March 2026 industrial attachment cohort. The programme prepares journalism and communication students for the media industry through structured practical training. It offers experience in real newsroom environments and helps you build professional skills before graduation.
Programme Duration
The attachment runs for three months from January to March 2026. You work under professional editors, producers and digital teams through the full period.
Who Should Apply
The programme targets students in their final year of study. You qualify if you are pursuing a degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Digital Communication or Corporate Communication. You need to meet all application requirements to be considered.
Placement Opportunities
Successful applicants will be placed in recognised media and communication outlets across Kenya. Placement areas include:
• Print reporting and editing
• Radio and television broadcast
• Production and technical support
• Digital content creation and online publishing
These areas give you exposure to newsroom operations, story development, field assignments and editing processes. You build confidence, understand deadlines and work with experienced journalists.

Application Requirements
You need to prepare the following documents:
• Recommendation letter from your university or college issued within the last two months
• Academic transcripts for the current academic year
• Valid student identification card
• Valid MCK Student Press Card for 2026
• Mandatory sample of your journalistic work, which can include published articles, multimedia work or school assignments
The documents must show your current academic standing and your readiness for professional training.
