Kasi Pitching Challenge 2025 for R100,000 Grand Prize

The Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA) has announced the return of the Kasi Pitching Challenge, a national platform designed to spotlight and support township-based businesses with growth potential. This year’s challenge invites entrepreneurs from every corner of South Africa to present their innovative business ideas for a chance to win the grand prize of R100,000.

Since its inception in 2022, the Kasi Pitching Challenge has evolved from a local initiative in Daveyton, City of Ekurhuleni, into a national empowerment program that continues to transform township entrepreneurship. To date, it has attracted over 3,000 entries, celebrated 240 township business finalists, and rewarded 40 winners with a combined value of R2 million in cash prizes and business development support.

The 2025 edition of the challenge will culminate in the Grand Finale, scheduled during the 7th Annual Township Economy Summit, where top entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas before a panel of industry leaders and investors. The competition aims to identify and accelerate small businesses that demonstrate innovation, sustainability, and community impact.

To qualify, applicants must operate within a township, have a business that has been running for at least two years, and hold all required compliance documents. The enterprise must be South African-owned, Level 1 BBBEE certified, and classified as a micro enterprise. Participants must also submit a one-minute pitch video outlining their business idea and growth vision.

Applications officially open on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, and only registered attendees of the Township Economy Summit will receive the application email. Interested entrepreneurs can register at https://townshipeconomysummit.co.za/ to secure their chance to compete.

Pre-selected applicants will present their pitches over two days during the summit, where the most promising ventures will be awarded funding and mentorship opportunities. Beyond the grand prize, the Kasi Pitching Challenge provides practical business workshops, networking sessions, and exposure to potential investors.

The TEA continues to position the challenge as more than a competition. It is a nationwide movement aimed at creating sustainable economic growth within townships, providing entrepreneurs with the tools, funding, and visibility needed to thrive.
