The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs is inviting aspiring young Namibians to apply for career opportunities in the Namibian Defence Force.
The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs has opened recruitment for aspiring young Namibians interested in joining the Namibian Defence Force (NDF). This national opportunity offers candidates the chance to serve their country through dedication, discipline, and commitment to national security. The recruitment drive targets eligible individuals who meet the academic, physical, and ethical standards required for military service.
The NDF provides structured career paths for Recruits and Officer Cadets, each with specific entry requirements and training programs. Successful applicants will undergo psychometric testing, medical evaluations, and physical fitness assessments. The Ministry emphasizes fairness, equal opportunity, and strict adherence to eligibility standards. Applicants from marginalized communities are encouraged to apply through their respective constituency offices to ensure inclusion in the national recruitment process.
This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening national defense capacity while empowering young citizens with professional, leadership, and technical skills for future service.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates should meet the following requirements to join the NDF:
Recruits
- Age between 18-30 years on or before 21 November 2025.
- He/she to have obtained Grade 12 Certificate with 25 points in five (5) subjects with a ‘E’ symbol in English or Grade 11 Certificate with a minimum of 25 points in five (5) subjects with a ‘E’ symbol in English or Grade 10 Certificate old curriculum with minimum 25 points in seven (7) subjects with a ‘E’ symbol in English.
- Candidates with music qualification or knowledge such as Flute, Clarinettist, Trumpeter, Saxophonist, Euphonium, Trombonist, Bass and Drummers will serve as added advantage.
Officer Cadre
- Age between 18-25 years on or before 21 November 2025.
- He/she to have obtained at least Grade 11 or Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of 27 points in five (5) subjects with a ‘C’ symbol in English.
- Tertiary qualification will serve as added advantage.
- To undergo Psychometric Test.
Take Note
- He / she must be Namibian citizen and should not have tattoos.
- He/she must have no criminal record and pending cases.
- Ready to undergo a comprehensive medical check-up.
- Pass Basic General Knowledge and English Language Tests.
- Pass Physical Fitness Test that include:
a) Complete 2, 4 Km Run males within 13 mins or less and for females within 14 mins and 30 secs or less.
b) Perform Stickups, males 43 ups or more and females 25 ups or more.
c) Perform Push Ups, males 30 ups or more and females 30 ups or more.
Should meet the following Body Mass and Height Requirements:
a) Males 152 cm min to 200 cm max: 47 kg to 96 kg.
b) Females 152 cm min to 183 cm max: 55 kg to 81 kg.
- Provide certified copies of Namibian Identity Card and Full Birth Certificate.
- Attached certified copies of education qualifications.
- Indicate shoe size at the top right side on the first page of the Public Service of Namibia Application Form for Employment.
- Attached two (02) recent colour passport photos on top of the first page.
- Candidates should clearly indicate recruits or officer cadets when applying.
- Candidate cannot apply for both recruits and officer cadets.
- All Applicants including Marginalised Communities should indicate their constituencies on the form and to be stamped with official stamp of the Constituency Councillor and should submit their application from in the same office.
- All Marginalised Communities application forms should be forwarded to the Office of the Presidency (Executive Director Mr. Mateus Kabolongo) in Windhoek by the Governors.
- Applicants should retain a stamped copy of the first page of the application form as proof of submission.
- Applications without the Constituency Official stamp will not be considered.
- Submissions of the Application forms are strictly to be submitted as directed in this advertisement.
- Application submitted through deviating from this procedure would be disqualified accordingly.
- No Application to be handed in at the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs.
- Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and no documents will be returned.
- No Constituency Councillor or Staff Members of the Constituency Office should turn away candidates.
