National Youth Service (NYS) is a youth development service institution, established by the National Youth Service Act (Act No.6 of 2005) to deliver relevant national services and offer recognized skills training and personal development programmes to the Namibian youth. NYS offers Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses registered with the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) and accredited by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NOA).
The Service hereby invites all interested youth to apply for admission into the following trades, which will be offered at its Rietfontein Training Centre in the Oijozondjupa Region:
National Vocational Certificate - Joinery Cabinet Making Level 1-3
National Vocational Certificate - Bricklaying & Plastering Level 1-3
National Vocational Certificate - Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Level 1-3
National Vocational Certificate - Hospitality Level 1-3
National Vocational Certificate - Agriculture (Farm Machinery and Infrastructure) Level 1-3.
National Vocational Certificate - Agriculture (Crop Husbandry) Level 1-3.
National Vocational Certificate - Agriculture (Animal Husbandry) Level 1-3.
National Vocational Certificate - Farm Management Level 4.
National Vocational Certificate - Clothing Production Level 4.
National Vocational Certificate - Agriculture Level 4.
National Vocational Certificate - Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) Level 4.
National Vocational Diploma - Farm Management (Level 5).
Eligibility
Namibian youth aged 16 – 35 years.

Minimum Admission Requirements – Grade 11 (New Curriculum):
Twenty (20) points in six (6) subjects.
At least an E in English and F in Mathematics and Science (Physics is compulsory for technical subjects).
Minimum Admission Requirements – Grade 10 and 12 (Old Curriculum):
Twenty (20) points in six (6) subjects.
At least an E in English and F in Mathematics and Science.
For candidates with pre-vocational subjects:
Grade 10 or Grade 12 certificate.
Eighteen (18) points in six (6) subjects.
E in English, F in Mathematics and/or Physical Science.
.D in the pre-vocational subjects.
Additional Requirements for Specific Levels
Agriculture Level 4:
Possession of a National Vocational Certificate Level 3 in either Agriculture. Livestock/Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Horticulture/Crop Husbandry, Agriculture Farm Machinery & Infrastructure, or an equivalent qualification.
Agriculture Level 5:
Possession of a National Vocational Certificate in Agriculture Level 4.
Hospitality Level 4 (Commercial Cookery):
Possession of a National Vocational Certificate in Hospitality Level 3 or equivalent.
Important Notice
Non-NYS applicants will be required to undergo a one (1) month National Service crash course before commencing training.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Unemployed Namibians who have undergone National Service Training (Civic Training) at National Youth Service.
People from Socio economically disadvantages backgrounds.
People living with disabilities, and those from Marginalised communities are encouraged to apply and will be given first preference provided they meet all other admission requirements.

This application form must be accompanied by CV, certified copies of birth certificate/ID and Certified copies of Grade 10 or 12 certificates, declaration of unemployed and resident (region) of applicant must be indicated in the police declaration
No incomplete, faxed application form will be accepted
Should you not receive any notification regarding the status of your application by 20 December consider your application unsuccessful
Forms can be collected from National Youth service Offices, Regional Youth Offices, Regional Councils Offices and can be downloaded at thE NYS website

Applicants who have not undergone the NYS National Service Civic Training are encouraged to apply for Farm Management (Level 4), Clothing Production (Level 4), Agriculture (Levels 4 and 5), or Commercial Cookery (Level 4). However, such applicants will be required to complete a two-week National Service Training orientation course.
