Students in uniform returning to school in Rwanda for the second term 2025/2026

ANNOUNCEMENT ON STUDENTS’ RETURN TO SCHOOL

The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Rwanda, through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority, NESA, informs school administrators, teachers, parents, and guardians about the official arrangements for students returning to school for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic year.

Following the national academic calendar approved by the Ministry of Education, boarding students across the country will return to their respective schools between 03 January 2026 and 06 January 2026. This structured return plan supports orderly transportation, student safety, and proper school preparedness. The schedule groups students according to the district where their school is located, with specific dates assigned to each district and province.

Parents and guardians should study the return schedule carefully and ensure students travel only on the assigned date. Schools should prepare dormitories, meals, learning materials, and supervision before students arrive. Adherence to this schedule supports coordination among schools, transport providers, and education authorities.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS

Students must return to school strictly according to the assigned schedule. Early or late arrival disrupts transport planning and school operations. Students should wear full school uniform and carry required learning materials on the return day.

Parents and guardians should provide sufficient travel money and ensure students depart on time. Clear guidance from families reduces delays and confusion during travel.

To organize student transportation effectively, all students departing from Kigali or passing through Kigali to other provinces will board buses at Kigali Pele Stadium in Nyamirambo. This location serves as the central coordination point for student movement during the return period.

The stadium will close at 3:00 PM. No student will enter the premises after this time. Parents and students should plan travel early to avoid missing transport arrangements.

Education officials at district and sector levels should supervise the return process closely. Their responsibilities include monitoring student movement, supporting transport coordination, and confirming school readiness.

School leaders should confirm boarding facilities are clean and secure before student arrival. Feeding arrangements, supervision schedules, and health and safety measures should be in place to support a smooth start to the term.

This organized return plan supports student welfare, improves coordination among institutions, and promotes discipline within the education system. Cooperation from parents, students, schools, and local authorities remains essential for successful implementation.
