Kenyatta University 58th Graduation Ceremony Notice to Graduands

Kenyatta University has released the full programme and requirements for its 58th Graduation Ceremony, which will take place on Friday, 19 December 2025 at the Graduation Square. The event will recognise students who have completed their academic programmes and qualified for the conferment of degrees and the award of diplomas and certificates.

The university outlined the graduation fees for different categories of awards. Candidates graduating with certificates and diplomas will pay 5,500 shillings, bachelor degree graduands will pay 6,000 shillings, postgraduate diploma graduands will pay 6,000 shillings, master degree graduands will pay 6,500 shillings, and doctoral graduands will pay 7,000 shillings. All payments must be made by Thursday, 11 December 2025 through the eCitizen payment link provided in each student’s portal under the “My Finances” section. The university advised graduands not to use mobile banking to pay eCitizen fees through PayBill because such payments will not be processed.

All graduands are required to wear full academic attire during the ceremony. The university has directed students to collect the attire from their respective schools or departments between 9 and 17 December 2025. Attire will only be issued upon confirmation of full payment of the graduation fee.

The return deadline for the academic attire is Friday, 9 January 2026. Late returns will attract a penalty fee of 500 shillings per day. The university emphasised timely return of the gowns to avoid inconvenience to incoming graduands and to maintain proper records.

Attendance at the graduation rehearsal is mandatory for all graduands planning to participate in the ceremony. The rehearsal will take place on Thursday, 18 December 2025 at the Graduation Square starting at 9:30 a.m. Graduands must be seated by 9:00 a.m. Failure to attend the rehearsal will result in exclusion from the ceremony.

On the graduation day, the procession will begin at 7:30 a.m. Graduands are expected to arrive at the Graduation Square by 7:00 a.m. to allow proper organisation. Only those who have completed payment requirements and attended rehearsal will join the procession. During the procession, schools will move in an orderly manner led by their respective deans and officials, eventually taking their allocated seats at the Graduation Square.

The ceremony will officially start at 8:30 a.m. Latecomers will not be allowed into the Graduation Square once the event begins. The university encourages graduands and families to observe time to avoid delays in the programme.

Academic transcripts and certificates will be issued on dates communicated through the university website. Graduands with special needs who require assistance on graduation day are encouraged to contact the Directorate of Disability Services for support before the event.

Kenyatta University extended its congratulations to all graduands and expressed its commitment to delivering an organised and memorable ceremony. The institution encouraged families, friends, and the wider university community to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class of 2025.
