Ghana Students Loan Trust Fund Completes 2024/25 Academic Fee Reimbursement

The Students Loan Trust Fund has announced the successful completion of academic fee reimbursements for the 2024/2025 academic year, covering all first-year students enrolled in public tertiary institutions across Ghana. This development forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s No Fees Stress initiative, which seeks to reduce the financial burden on students and families while expanding access to higher education.

According to the official statement released on December 30, 2025, the SLTF received enrolment data totaling 178,745 records from public tertiary institutions nationwide. These records represented students admitted into first-year programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year. From this pool, 168,855 students completed their applications under the initiative and submitted the required information for processing.

After a detailed validation exercise, 152,698 students were confirmed eligible and have received reimbursement of their academic fees. The validation process focused on accuracy of student data, confirmation of admission status, and alignment with institutional records. This process ensured public funds reached eligible beneficiaries while maintaining accountability.

The SLTF stated that the difference between completed applications and validated reimbursements resulted from issues such as incomplete records, mismatched personal details, or failure to meet required criteria. Affected students are encouraged to review their information and follow guidance provided by the Fund to address outstanding issues where applicable.

To strengthen transparency and improve communication with beneficiaries, the Students Loan Trust Fund has introduced the No Fees Stress Status Checker. This online tool allows students to confirm their validation and reimbursement status directly. Students can access the status checker through the official SLTF website at www.sltf.gov.gh

. The platform offers a straightforward way for applicants to track progress without visiting SLTF offices physically.

The Fund reaffirmed its responsibility to manage public resources with care and integrity. Officials emphasized that the reimbursement exercise reflects a broader commitment to fairness, inclusion, and access within Ghana’s higher education system. By removing upfront academic fee barriers, the initiative supports students from diverse economic backgrounds and promotes equal opportunity in tertiary education.

The SLTF also encouraged students and institutions to continue cooperating during future enrolment and validation exercises. Accurate and timely submission of records remains essential to ensure smooth processing and prompt disbursement of funds in subsequent academic years.

The statement was signed by Dr. Saajida Shiraz, Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund, who reiterated the Fund’s ongoing role in promoting accessible and equitable tertiary education in Ghana.
