Tanzania Opening Dates for Universities and Colleges – 2025/2026 Academic Year

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has officially announced the opening schedule for all higher learning institutions in Tanzania for the 2025/2026 academic year. According to the Ministry’s academic calendar, both public and private universities and colleges are expected to reopen within November 2025, following a structured schedule designed to ensure smooth academic operations across the country.

The Ministry has stated that first-year students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic year are required to report to their respective institutions beginning 17th November 2025. Upon arrival, they will participate in an orientation programme that aims to familiarize them with university life, institutional regulations, academic procedures, and available support services. This orientation period is a vital component of student transition, helping new learners adapt to higher education environments before the official commencement of lectures.

Meanwhile, continuing students in all higher learning institutions are expected to resume their studies on 24th November 2025. The Ministry emphasized that students should adhere to the official schedule, attend classes promptly, and actively engage in academic and extracurricular activities as outlined in institutional timetables.

The Ministry further urged all students to demonstrate discipline, punctuality, and dedication as they pursue their academic goals. Administrators and academic staff have been advised to provide full support to students, ensuring that teaching and learning activities proceed effectively and without interruption.

In its statement, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to improving the quality of education in Tanzania through effective planning, monitoring, and collaboration with stakeholders in both public and private sectors. The Ministry extended its best wishes to all students, encouraging them to make the most of their learning opportunities and contribute positively to national development.
