The LGSETA is opening a bursary window for the 2025 and 2026 academic cycle. The funding supports full time students who want to pursue qualifications linked to the local government sector. The bursary aims to help university students, TVET college students and grade 12 learners with confirmed admission. Eligible applicants include South African citizens and permanent residents who plan to study courses listed on the LGSETA website. The application process runs online, and all required documents must be submitted before the stated deadline.
Who can apply?
- South African students and those with permanent residence status.
- University Students, Universities of Technology Students, and TVET Colleges students or
Grade 12 learners who have been accepted in the respective institutions for the specific
qualifications relevant to the local government sector. - Students who are accepted or received provisional acceptance for a course/qualification that is in line with local government sector.
- Please refer to the list of qualifications that will be supported for the bursary on the LGSETA website.
- Only students that are studying full time will be funded.

How to apply?
1. Go to the LGSETA website and follow these steps:
i. Click Services tab.
ii. Then click DG Bursary under Learners tab.
iii. Lastly click on the link provided under 2025-2026; and
iv. Instructions on how to apply use the link http://pulse.lgseta.org.za
2. Complete the required fields on your online Bursary application
3. Upload all the required supporting documents on the link within your online application.
i. Certified ID Copy (Not older than six (6) months)
ii. Certified Matric Certificate/ Grade 12 Results (Not older than six (6) months)
iii. Acceptance/Admission Letter from the Institution
iv. Proof of Registration (Learners currently registered for 1st & 2nd Year)
4. Parent/ Guardians Proof of Income/ Affidavit
5. Submit application.
Submissions:
1. Individual bursary applications must be submitted by each student/learner through LGSETA Online application as per details under how to apply (No applications should be sent via email addresses or hand delivered).
2. The application window opens on 10th November 2025 at 8:00 am and closes on the 28th November 2025 at 23:59 (midnight).
3. The deadline will not be extended. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
4. The List of qualifications that will be funded is attached with the advert.
Please Note:
1. All Bursary applications are subject to approval by the LGSETA Accounting Authority.
2. The allocation of these Bursaries will be dependent on the availability of funds and on
applicants meeting all requirements as per the programmes funding criteria, policies, and
procedures.
3. LGSETA reserves the right to cancel the bursary funding window in whole or in part at its
discretion.
4. If you have not heard from us within three (3) months of submitting your application, please consider your application unsuccessful.
