The Higher Education Council has announced new scholarship opportunities under the 2026 Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme. The offer is part of the bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and the Republic of Mauritius. The scheme supports students who want to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD studies in the 2026 academic year. Applicants must submit complete documents through the HEC MIS portal before the deadline.

Overview of the Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme

The programme strengthens access to quality higher education in Mauritius for learners across Africa. Through cooperation with Rwanda, selected students receive opportunities to study at public higher education institutions in Mauritius. The scholarships support academic training at three levels, and applicants must meet the requirements set by both HEC and Mauritian institutions.

Eligibility and Academic Requirements

The scheme is open to qualified Rwandan applicants at undergraduate, Master’s and PhD levels. Each level has its own academic conditions that must be met and verified through certified documents.

  • Certified copies of educational certificates and transcripts

  • Study or research plan for Master’s and PhD applicants

  • Supporting statement from a named supervisor in Mauritius for PhD applicants

  • Conditional offer letter or acknowledgement of application from a Mauritian public university
