The scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to undergraduates of Owan East and West of Edo State, Nigeria who have demonstrated academic excellence in their chosen field of study but whose dream of attaining their academic ambitions and reaching their future potentials are hampered by financial challenges.
The Foundation extends a three (3) to six (6) year scholarship to qualified Owan youths, who are undergraduates in accredited public Universities and students in Polytechnics who are in the Higher National Diploma Program (HND) in Nigeria. The Foundation offers qualified students scholarship awards worth N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) for one (1) academic year and it covers tuition, book allowance and stipend.
QUALIFICATION:
i. GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE:
Applications are restricted to undergraduates in Owan East and Owan West of Edo State who are currently undertaking studies in any public university in Nigeria.
ii. DISCIPLINE:
Applicants must be undergraduates currently in 200 Level/ 2nd year in a public university and must be studying in any of the following disciplines:
a. Medicine
b. Education
c. Law
d. Social Science / International Studies
e. Agricultural Science
f. Computer Studies
g. Library Science
h. Home Economics / Catering and Hotel Management
METHOD OF APPLICATION
i. Interested students who meet the above criteria should collect an application form from the following centres:
a. The Chief Inspector of Education of Owan East Local Government
b. The Chief Inspector of Education of Owan West Local Government
c. Ministar Civic Centre & Garden, Uhonmora-Sabo Expressway, Sabongidda-Ora, Owan West LGA, Edo State, Nigeria.
d. Print and Fill out our online application and terms of award form. Upload and email all required documents before or on the deadline to scholarship@mercyigbearase-foundation.org
ii. Application forms are free; Application open date is November 1, 2018. Deadline for application pickup or online access is December 10, 2018 while all duly completed application forms must be submitted to any of these centres or uploaded not later than December 17, 2018
iii. Applicants details will be verified and only short-listed candidates will be invited for an assessment test. In addition to the Application form, and Terms of Award form, applicants are required to submit the following:
* Two (2) passport photographs
* Course registration form
* Valid Student Identity Card
* or any other means of identification such as a National ID card, International passport or driver’s license or Letter of identification from Local Government Area.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Applicants must note as follows:
i. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
ii. Upon receipt of duly completed application form from interested applicants, the Foundation shall evaluate and short list qualified students who will be subsequently invited for an assessment test.
iii. Names of successful recipients will be published on the Notice Boards of the various Ministries of Education in Owan East and Owan West Local Government Councils as well as the Ministar Civic Centre & Garden.
iv. Formal offer letter detailing conditions of the scholarship will also be sent to successful applicants.
v. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
vi. The Foundation shall be solely responsible for final selection for successful awards.
