Shapers are highly motivated individuals who have a great potential for future leadership roles in society. They are selected on the basis of their achievements, leadership potential, and commitment to make a difference. Through the Global Shapers Community, Shapers are provided with opportunities to connect with the worldwide network of Global Shapers, to network with other World Economic Forum communities, and to represent the voice of youth at World Economic Forum events. Shapers are united by a common desire to channel the members’ tremendous energy and enthusiasm into building a more peaceful and inclusive world.
Since 2011, the community has grown to over 400 Hubs in cities across the world. Today, there are over 6,000 socially engaged Global Shapers worldwide. Every year, each Hub is required to work together to undertake at least 1 project that has positive local impact.
The Calabar Hub has been active for 7 years. With our diverse backgrounds and expertise, we are committed to improving the lives of the local community, and leveraging our networks to help other Shapers across the globe accomplish their goals. We're excited to recruit new members for our Calabar hub!
ELIGIBILITY
1. Are you between 20 -29 years old?
2. Resident of or live close to the hub city.
3. Interested in devoloping your leadership Potential
4. Willing to support fellow shapers in their personal and and professional development.
Selection Criteria
1. Focused on Social Impact, not just Social: Shapers recognize and pursue opportunities to create positive social change through our community (Calabar and Nigeria), and are not just interested in participating socially among network members.
2. Committed to the Community: Shapers demonstrate a strong desire to participate in the community across multiple dimensions, including enhancing the hub itself, committing their time and resources, and supporting their fellow hub members through good times and bad.
3. Leaders with a Track Record: Shapers demonstrate a history of taking on heavy responsibilities, enduring challenges, and generating verifiable, positive, and high quality outcomes.
4. Self-Starters Driven to Improve: Shapers are comfortable taking the initiative to launch projects, seize opportunities, or create improvements that push forward our community and ourselves to make us more effective at being leaders with the power to make the future a better place.
5. Great Values and Great Reputation: Shapers are recognized in their network as individuals of high character and integrity who have a reputation for being great to work with and who are able to work well in highly diverse teams and communities.
