Pharmacy and Poisons Board inviting experts to join the Clinical Trials Expert Committee

PHARMACY AND POISONS BOARD VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) is Kenya’s National Medicines Regulatory Authority established in 1957 under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, Chapter 244 of the Laws of Kenya. The Board regulates the practice of pharmacy and oversees the manufacture, registration, distribution, and trade in medical products and health technologies across the country. Through this mandate, PPB plays a central role in safeguarding public health, promoting patient safety, and strengthening confidence in regulated medical products and clinical research.

To further strengthen oversight of clinical research activities in Kenya, PPB seeks to recruit qualified, competent, and experienced experts to serve on the Expert Committee on Clinical Trials (ECCT). The committee provides technical guidance and independent review to ensure clinical trials meet ethical, scientific, and regulatory standards in line with national and international requirements.

Position Title:
Member, Expert Committee on Clinical Trials (ECCT)

Number of Positions:
Thirteen (13)

Terms of Service:
Ad hoc, as required

Tenure:
Three (3) years, renewable

Members of the ECCT will contribute professional expertise in the review and evaluation of clinical trial applications, monitoring of approved trials, and advising the Board on matters related to clinical research governance. Appointment to the committee offers an opportunity to support evidence-based decision-making and strengthen Kenya’s clinical research environment.
