Paradigm Initiative is a social enterprise that works to build and ICT-enabled support system and advocates for Digital Rights. Over the last 6 years Paradigm has hosted the Internet Freedom Forum which is a  reputable forum where digital policy conversations in Africa are shaped. Countries in the Southern Africa region, are in the overdrive regulating internet access at a time the population is just adopting the internet and some qof the State’s regulatory actions may be exploited to suppress political dissent. This is evidenced by the fact that countries whose leadership exhibits autocratic tendencies are taking a hard stance on internet regulation and control. This is just one example of threats to digital rights protection in the Southern African Region. There is therefore a need to keep this worrying trend in check before it spreads to the rest of countries in the region.

It is in this context that Paradigm Initiative in collaboration with Facebook will be hosting a Digital Rights Training Workshop in Lusaka, Zambia on the week of 18th-20th October. This  training on digital rights is being organised to deepen participants’ knowledge on the topics and to introduce them to modern approaches to engage stakeholders at the national, regional and international levels on how to influence Internet policy formulation with respect to digital rights.
