If you’ve never participated in the CodeLagos Initiative, another opportunity is available to you. Registration for the fourth batch of its Out-of-School Programme is presently ongoing.
CodeLagos is an initiative of the Lagos State Government to teach the state’s residents how to code. The initiative was launched way back in 2016 with the aim of teaching one million Lagosians how to code before 2019 so as to make Lagos the technology frontier for Africa.
The programme has further expanded into more locations across the state. Previously restricted to four locations, CodeLagos now holds in areas such as Yaba, Surulere, Isolo, Ipaja, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Ilupeju, Meiran, Fadeyi, and Onikan.
CodeLagos partners quite a lot of important tech companies that provide funding and technical expertise. These include PricewaterhouseCoopers, SystemSpecs, ARM, 9Mobile, Oracle, and Siemens.
CodeLagos is an initiative of the Lagos State Ministry of Education aimed at making coding education framework accessible to every student in Lagos State.
Why Teach Code?
As we strive towards an economy in which technology is leveraged to enhance the lives and promote the livelihoods of Lagos State residents, it is important to prepare our citizenry to meet new workforce demands, harness the benefits of technology, and communicate in the language of the future.
